Common Causes of Water Damage (and How to Handle Them)

We’ve been called in for just about every type of water damage scenario you can imagine. The most common ones?

Flood Damage Cleanup

Flash floods, heavy rains, or even a burst irrigation system can leave your property in knee-deep water overnight.

Appliance leak cleanup

That trusty washing machine or dishwasher? Not so trustworthy when a hose bursts.

Clogged drain overflow & plumbing failures

Toilet, bathroom sink, or kitchen sink overflows can turn a simple clog into a full-scale flood.

HVAC discharge line repair

Your AC unit pulls moisture from the air, but when its drain line clogs, that water ends up inside instead of outside.

Broken water pipe repair & pipe leaks

Whether it’s a main water line break or a slow drip behind the walls, leaks can wreck your home’s foundation if left unchecked.

If you see water, smell mold, or notice damp spots, don’t ignore it. Water damage is sneaky, and waiting only makes it worse.

FAQS

FAQs About Water Damage Restoration

How fast should I call for water damage repairs?

When you call us, you’re getting more than just a cleanup crew—you’re getting an experienced team that understands how water behaves and knows how to stop it in its tracks.

No. Household fans and dehumidifiers can’t remove water trapped inside walls and floors. Without professional-grade equipment, hidden moisture can lead to mold growth in as little as 48 hours.

It depends on your policy. Most homeowners’ insurance covers sudden water damage restoration services, but not gradual leaks. We can provide detailed documentation to help with claims.

  • Inspect pipes regularly to catch leaks early.
  • Clean gutters so rainwater drains properly.
  • Check your appliances for loose hoses or worn-out seals.
  • Know where your main water shut-off valve is—if a pipe bursts, shutting it off immediately can save thousands in repairs.

Water damage can turn a peaceful home into a disaster zone overnight, but you don’t have to handle it alone. Whether it’s a burst pipe, appliance leak, or storm flooding, our team is ready to restore your home and peace of mind—quickly and efficiently.

Don’t wait until the damage gets worse—contact us today for expert water damage restoration services.

Ryan and Rick were very professional, polite and punctual. They walked me through the process as they were working the area of the damage/loss. They were respectful of the “no shoes in the house” custom which I greatly appreciate. Thank you both for your hard work.

Disaster America did a great job on the renovation of a water emergency I had in April… but:Fast forward to late June… The renovation/restoration was finally done: $72 THOUSAND DOLLARS later and 2 bedrooms, hall, bathroom, and 1/4 of the living room dried out and replaced by Disaster America USA.Now… 6 weeks ago (mid July) we started noticing a “buckle” in the floor right inside the front door (about 4 ft from where they deemed was the end of the water damage). 3 weeks ago the buckle had started protruding through the brand new LVP that they put down and it spread down a line toward where they had finished the underfloor remodel. By Thursday it had gotten so bad we couldn’t open the door all the way. Now… when the LVP broke and boards started coming through I called to speak with Jason at Disaster America and he text me and told me to email him the pics and he’d get back to me… I’ve yet to hear back from anyone. I also called and spoke with Sam who was the foreman of the construction company they used and sent him pics of it. He actually said they’d be here Friday to take a look at it and never showed up and I haven’t been able to contact him again either. *Though Sam did tell me he figured the foundation under the old floor had failed and he was sure that was the problem 🙄 Of note- the foundation was repaired less than a year ago and I have the warranty*So on Friday… With some help, I started ripping up the floor to see what the problem was because obviously it was my problem and no one was going to get back with me on this. It wasn’t the foundation… the hardwood subfloor had buckled because the water obviously went further than they thought {as I’d thought, and even asked them to go further when they were ripping it up and they declined and said they KNEW it wasn’t damaged out that far}.So, enjoy some pics of my Labor Day Weekend as this $1.74 disaster continues to cost me THOUSANDS of dollars to fix still, after it was already “fixed” to the tune of $72,000!
